MA - Gill Red-shouldered Hawk

Red-shouldered Hawks are not easy to come by in Gill but a pair has been present throughout the spring and summer along North Cross Road. Though often aloof, this adult did put in a nice appearance this morning and was most likely one of the breeding birds rather than a migrant.

Scanning from Unity Park in Turner's Falls this evening produced a few migrant raptors including two Sharp-shinned Hawks and an American Kestrel, as well as a dozen Turkey Vultures looking for a roosting site. A rather dull, male Ring-necked Duck could be seen across at Barton Cove keeping a low profile among the Mallards.
