AK - Arctic Loons - 06/21

Arctic Loons - Nome, Alaska, June 21st, 2010. Most birds, like these, were 200-300 meters offshore.

Just back from another fantastic Alaska trip with Birdfinders, June 10th - 26th . Amongst the many highlights, an exceptional showing of Arctic Loons Gavia arctica viridigularis in Nome with perhaps as many as nine at three different locations on June 21st. At point we had five birds in view at the same time.

Thanks Larry. Yes it was a really fantastic trip and a great group. Me thinks Alaska is a place you'd enjoy!

BTW - Saw a Bobcat yesterday about 3 miles inside Gate 20. It stood on the road for a little while about 100 yards in front of my car but sadly I was too slow with the camera. I note you were also lucky with Bobcat earlier in the spring!

Cheers,

James

I know I would love to get into the interior someday.

That spot sounds like nearly the same spot I had a Bobcat. Perhaps I'll see another this weekend.
